Reid Lake Hike

Reid Lake

I am sitting on the shore of Reid Lake as the sun is rising. The lake was as smooth as glass until a minute ago when there was a low boom to the east an tn a big splash in the middle of the lake.

Well the ripples have mostly gone away but you can see a shimmer that shows that something has disturbed the lake.

I see little rings were something is coming up to feed and just now another splash and some sort of water bird. I think it is a loon but I can't see well in the half light of the early morning.

The sun is just hitting the lake on the west side. It's not over the trees from where I sit, but I will soon be in the sun.

Tammy and I walked the mile from the trail head to Reid lake and then walked around the lake. We went back and started to set up camp at site number four. As we were picking were to put the tent we saw dark clouds to the northwest. Though the weather said it was going to be clear it was a thunderstorm coming.

It started with wind and lightning one was so close that the flash and the sound were instantaneous. I was hanging the bear bag and ducked it was so loud. Then it rained for several hours the tent did okay but leaked threw the vents and the zipper but it kept us dry. Well it is time to dry up and hit the road.
